Alright, I'll be the first to say it--ugh, tear it down and replace with retail at the property line to match the plan for H Street. The fresh smell of urine in the morning when I pick up drycleaning is just...not so wonderful. Too many places for people to hang out & flop out, and contributes to the atmosphere that permits criminal activity. While I'm at it, Metro needs to provide better facilities for the several bus stops in the area. *end rant*
Why? Do people no longer need affordable goods for their homes, a drugstore, carry out, clothing stores, and a game store? If they can still afford their rent why wouldn't you just clean it up and give it a much needed facelift? Nevermind. I'm sure you'll have your way and pretty soon H St will be another Gallery Place or Adam's Morgan. Why can't their be a middle ground? Things are either for the really poor or upper middle class and beyond.
