Good. I have very little empathy for the students, but would have welcomed a protest had they not so negatively impacted people who don't agree (other Gallaudet students) and completely innocent bystanders (elementary students).
I went to an even smaller school than Gallaudet and the President had very little to do with my education outside of drumming up money to get new buildings, equipment, etc.
Just because it's a unique school with a unique student body doesn't mean they don't have to play by the rules the rest of the world does.
I am a staff at Gallaudet and reside in Captiol City.
More than half of the staff polled not to have JK as president.
More than half of the faculty polled not to have JK as president.
More than a third of the students, but... forget about the students then.
Money handling concerns, decrease in diversity, and loss of important recruitment for the elementary school. She didn't just show up, there had been problems the last six years as a provost.
Always more to it than an article in the Washington Post. Gallaudet may be shut down, but the PR Machine is in high gear. Consultants has been brought in.
Plenty of blog sites on this. Gain a little culture and read something else.
There are lots of good sites on the topic. I've linked to a few (that can lead you to others) in previous posts. Check out these sites if you want to know more about what is going on.
