The Post offers this news brief on Saturday's march through the Carver Terrace and Langston Terrace eighborhoods. The march was organized in response to a recent spate of shootings that have claimed the lives of two, and injured others. The marching band from Charles Young Elementary led the march.

I have a lot of friends who group up in DC in the late 60's early 70's and they all talk about the fabulous neighborhood bands that we used to have. Every rec center, elementary school, middle and jr high to high school had a band! It even broke down into jazz bands at the rec center, marching bands at schools, etc. and everyone pretty much played in one or both. And in school they learned music theory, performance, everything. Seeing your terrific photos made me wish we could get music back in every school in the city.
