Radio Discussion re: Noise Laws @ 8th 2:30

Just received from David Klavitter (Quest for Quiet) listen at 2:30pm:

I will participate via telephone with the impeccably credentialed Mr. Joslyn Williams, president, Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO: http://www.dcvote.org/about/josbio.cfm Mr. William's group apparently opposes the community's desire for peace and quiet. Surely we can find some common ground.

Listen at 1500 AM or 107.7 FM. Website:

Mr. Sam Litzinger will host.

Too bad you can't call in to the show.

I'd really like to give this 'impeccably credentialed' person a piece of my mind.

Why does the AFL-CIO even have a dog in this hunt?

They don't want to be stopped from doing labor protests w/ bullhorns I guess.
I'm sure this will be covered on the show...what I'm wondering is why can't the threshold be set at getting a permit? I wonder how many non-permitted labor protests with amplified speech have happened in the past.

Kudos David. Sounded like the compromise is going to be to specify a decibel level? It's hard to imagine a decibel level that's loud enough to satisfy the labor people yet quiet enough for H & 8th.
I can see the labor guy's point about working to get the current compromise and not wanting to change it but if it doesn't meet all the citizens' needs, that's the way it goes...gotta fix the law.
