Shooting for a July 27th opening. A little sample of the menu:
Apps & salads:
-Seared Georges Bank Scallops w/ Bacon & Corn Ragout.
-Arugula Salad w/ Kriek Swelled Dried Bing Cherries, Point Reyes Bleu, Toasted Walnuts, Red Onion.
-Belgian Endive Salad w/ Asian Pear, Fresh Coconut, House Tweaked Ginger, Mint.
Frites:
-choice of 8 different sauces (Roasted Garlic Aoli, Heinz Classic, Cucumber Raita, House Smoked Red Pepper Catsup, Wholegrain Studded Dijonaise, & others.
Sandwiches:
-House Ground Angus Burger w/ Homemade Pickles & Frites.
-Croque Monsieur w/ Organic Farm Egg, House Smoked Taso, Gruyere, & Frites.
-Grilled Organic Vegetable Sandwich w/ Belgian Ale Washed Chevre & Local Greens.
Moules:
-Belgian Tripel, Toasted Elephant Garlic.
-Preserved Lemon, Black Olive, & Harissa Broth.
-Applewood Smoked Bacon, Braised Leeks, Parsley, & Cream.
-Tamarind, Lime, Cilantro, Palm Sugar, & Thai Chili.
*** all moules served w/ sm frites, 1 sauce.
Entrées:
-Exotic Mushroom Risotto w/ THE Reggiano and Fresh Thyme.
-Grilled Pacific Snapper Filet w/ Heirloom Tomatoes, EVO Poached Fennel, & Saffron Broth.
-Natural Chicken Breast w/ Toasted Israeli Couscous, Cerignola Olives, & House Preserved Lemons.
This is just a sample of the menu that Chef David Nugent has come up with. Expect these and many more selections from the kitchen when we open at the end of July. Oh, and 65 + Belgian Beers!!!

Doc Moore's is sounding more and more like the sit-down establishment we've all been waiting for. You can count on seeing me there opening night!
Next stop - Sticky Rice!
This does indeed sound very promising. Let's hope they are able to keep the prices relatively affordable. I'm sure they know their business model well, but you can't charge downtown DC prices on H Street NE and expect to have a long life.
Re: Sticky Rice, our block had a block party this evening, and during the party, the proprietor/owner/manager/not-sure of the RnR Hotel came by walking his dogs. He's also responsible for Sticky Rice, and indicated that they're looking at an October opening at present. (perhaps even late October, but I'm not positive about that)
The impression I got from talking to him was that the biggest delay to this point has been dealing with the District government.
For those who've been to the Richmond Sticky Rice website and seen the menu there, the plan is for the menu to basically be the same. So that's what we'll have to look forward to, but not for another three months.

Their Oerbier is probably my favorite. Try it if you get a chance (think it's on the menu at The Brickskellar).

I think the hordes of folks living in $400-1,000k houses one block to the south of H St might give em a little bit of staying power. Having said that, I agree there should be cheap dining options on H St.

I agree, but there are already a few cheap food options on H St other than the atrocious half Chinese takeout stores. You can feed two people for $15 easily at Horace & Dickie's or Philadelphia Water Ice. Is it fine dining or a sit down restaurant? Hell no, but they are tasty and available.
What's the word on Taste of Jamaica?
Sticky Rice in October? I went by and peeked in the window and there's no back wall on the building and a good portion of the ceiling's missing. I think October sounds way too optimistic. Hate to be a downer...
So we're faced with the eternal question: more PBR or less Stella? Decisions, decisions...
Taste of Jamaica is actually pretty good. Not as good as Tropicana by far (which Inked said was looking at a site on H Street)) but a good option for a fairly cheap dinner nearby. Try the Fricasseed chicken and some fried dumplings. For Chinese, I still have Szechuan House deliver from Barracks Row - the best Chinese food around by far.
Israeli couscous is a common dish. Interestingly enough, Israelis don't really eat bagels.
Looks like the price point chosen is quite reasonable, especially considering what it looks like you'll be getting.
Here's to hoping this place works out well. As is often the case, a lot will depend on staffing.
I agree about Szchechuan House on 8th St. Their food almost always shows up hot, it's what I ordered, and in a reasonable time. Really one of the outstanding delivery services in the city.
My wife had a bad experience with their Kung Pao chicken once, but I've been fortunate enough to always enjoy what I've ordered from them.
They're definitely the best delivery we've had since moving to the Hill.

Poo - When I saw the chef's name, I emailed Chris to ask about him. I haven't heard back yet, but I think the David Nugent who is going to be heading the kitchen at Doc Moore's is the one who has worked at Blue Point, Ardeo and Nora's.
There is also a David Nugent in the San Francisco/Oakland area who opened a French place, La Creme de la Creme, in the 80s and Calda! Calda!, a gourmet pizza place, in the early 90s.
That Nugent didn't even get his start in the business until his 40s. If he were the same guy, he'd be roughly 75 by now.
My guess, which is as yet unconfirmed, is that the David Nugent at Doc Moore's is his son. Since Chris previously indicated that their chef had experience at the French Laundry in California, it could be that the younger Nugent got some early experience there as a result of being exposed to the SF restaurant scene by his father.
Unbelieveably excited to try Doc Moore's. Great menu and with 65 Belgian beers--should be a great combo for a nice sit down meal on H. If the food and cheer is good, I have no problem with those prices.
