Mon-Friday: 7-7
Sat: 8-6
Sun: 8-5
Sidamo Coffee & Tea is located at 417 H Street.
The change is Sundays close an hour earlier. Please correct the weekend hours if these are wrong. I'm going off the last ones I had posted, so the weekend opening hours may be off by an hour.

I love Sidamo, especially the outdoor seating area, but I sure wish they were open an hour earlier on weekdays for those of us who go into work early.
My thoughts exactly! My wife heads out to work at 8, and we sometimes like to get up early to take a walk. Unfortunately, we can't take advantage of EITHER Sidamo or Ebenezer's on those mornings because neither opens until 7.
I second these comments. It's a coffee house, in a neighborhood where most everyone leaves for work elsewhere. To be successful long term they're going to need to open earlier and close later on weekdays.
That's exactly why Jacobs coffeehouse on 8th and C went out of business - people liked it a lot but the owner wouldn't open for hours that people would actually find useful.
Jacobs is open. I was there today.
I thought they closed down and were sold to new owners, but kept the name.
Entirely possible. They are a bit south of me, so I'm not sure.
whiners.
support the neighborhood coffee place.
nuff said. :o/
I've got a couple of friends that live a block or so from Jacobs. They quit going because of the limited hours.
I've heard part of the problem is staffing (the eternal DC problem). From what I understand it's hard to get employees to show up early in the morning.
This is a link to the groundbreaking ceremony at the new Marriot going in over by the ATF building. Looks to be a nice place to keep all your visiting relatives and guests who overstay their welcome.

I go to Jacobs a fair amount, and they seem to do very good business.
It really, really irks me that somebody was mugged coming home from Sidamo on Saturday (see MPD-1D listserv). At 6PM, no less.
Theres a starbucks in Union Station.
They should put one on H street.
I have to disagree, anonymous. In addition to the Starbucks in Union Station, they also have a kiosk in the Safeway at the opposite end of the corridor.
With Sidamo (5th & H), Ebenezer's (2nd & F), Jacob's (8th & C), and the proposed new coffee shop going in at 6th and L, I would say the H Street corridor has plenty of coffee options in between those two.
We could use a few more sit-down and cafe-style restaurants, though. Something that could be to H Street what Cake Love and Love Cafe are to U Street.
It's almost a given that Starbucks will come - this has to be one of their areas of least concentration within the city. But the need just isn't there right now.
Mike there is plenty of room for more coffee places on H street. But what we really need on H street is a shop that sells smoking accesories like pipes, bongs, and rolling papers. I don't like having to go to the burbs or Adam's Morgan to buy the stuff I need for my daily medical needs.
Don't forget that Sova will probably open this fall.
Speaking of places opening on H Street, any word on when the Jazz club at the corner of 5th and H is set to open?
Pap & Petey's is coming along, but it's probably at least five or six weeks from being ready to open. Looking at the headaches they're having at Doc Moore's, my money would be on P&P's opening up by early October.
tron - Try the liquor store on Maryland Ave across the street from the Argonaut. They had a bong and bowl on display the last time I went in there a couple of weeks ago.
Jacob's did indeed close down and then re-open under new ownership. They have some delicious sandwiches, and their coffee is better than before. (Though, in my humble opinion, they it doesn't beat Sidamo's.)
Jacob's is horrible. It's the closest coffee shop to my home and I refuse to patronize the place.
Really? It's Horrible!? Did they curse at you and spit in your latte?

No, but their coffee sucks compared to Sidamo or Murky and the staff has always been a bit surly.
