Hey, I'm sorry that this is off topic. I just moved to the H street area, and I'm wondering about the risk of break-ins. I'm planning on getting an alarm system, and want to remove the front door's security gate, because it is so darn uninviting. It's also broken, so I need to either get the lock fixed, or just remove it all together.
Any advice or thoughts on security gates?
Thanks!
TA
So, I would love to have a co-op on H Street, but the location will make a huge difference as to whether I acutally go to it.
I know they need to raise money before they can buy/lease a place, but I'm not inclined to give money until I know where it will be. "The H Street corridor" is just too vague.
Anyone else having this dilemma, and any thoughts on how to overcome it?
p.s. SOVA looked great this morning, and my latte was delicious.
SOVA is open for business now?
SOVA is NOT open for business. It just loaned its space for a meeting this morning.
@ nate b,
the h street corridor is only about 12 blocks long. sure, it's a LONG 12 blocks, but you're acting like it's possible for the co-op to be anywhere that isn't walkable.
support the co-op. obviously i'm biased since i know a few of the people involved, but i also know that other than the farmer's market, your odds of getting reasonably priced organic produce near h street are zero. where are you gonna go, safeway? lol. your support is needed...also, this is the type of addition to the street that is a gateway to cooler retail coming through, IMHO. if edgier retailers see folks lining up for organic produce, i think they'd be more inclined to opening up on the corridor...
Alan -- I appreciate your enthusiasm.
I'm not pretending it won't technically be walkable. But the difference in distance could be more than a mile for me. Sorry to be a realist, but that makes a big difference, especially if you want to go after work during the week.
I just think the organizers would be wise address the issue, if at all possible. Give them a call!
