WP: Prostitution Fans Out
Check out the diagonal line that shoots up out of Florida Ave on this map. That is West Virgina Ave., which is definitely known for prostitution. Read the full story from the Post here.

As H Street improves, I suspect that the quality of hookers will improve as well. Within three years, our hookers should be more attractive than Logan Circle's.
I don't expect to get an answer to this question (at least not a serious one), but what the heck is the attraction here? In 2006, the District't HIV campaign revealed that over 10% of the people participating in the needle exchange were HIV positive. Here's a quote from the article: "Prostitutes often meet johns on street corners . . . Then they head out to have sex in nearby alleys and parks . . . residential areas tend to draw drug-addicted, impoverished or homeless prostitutes . . ." Doesn't that just sound lovely? Condoms reduce risks, but they are not 100% effective, and you can get unwelcome, permanent reminders of a night's fun even if it doesn't break. Do people not know this, or do they just not care? Obviously, sex is one of the fundamental drives, but the typical prostitute is not exactly Julia Roberts. What is the allure of having sex with a drug-addicted, homeless prostitute (with likely hygene issues) who has a not insignificant chance of giving you a debilitating or even fatal disease? It's a head-scratcher.

hopefully that will prove to be the case, because west virginia avenue is pretty close to my place!
the problem with your scenario is that, unfortunately, the attractiveness factor will probably drive up prices as well. :o(
