The Rosedale Citizens Alliance (RCA) will have its regular meeting tonight at 7:30PM. This month, they'll be meeting at the new coffee shop/wine bar, SOVA, located 1359 H ST NE (2nd floor).
Highlights on the agenda include
-- presentation by Hiram Bruton, Ward 6 Outreach and Community
Services Specialist, Office of the Mayor
(Mr. Bruton will be discussing the Mayor's recent community walks in Rosedale and how the community can assist in addressing problems that were identified. RCA will have copies of the report issued by the Mayor's office on actions taken by the DC government in response to the walks.)
-- update on the planning process for the future Rosedale Recreation/Community Center (including upcoming meetings with the Department of Parks and Recreation, recent neighborhood focus groups, and efforts to secure funding for an adjoining library.)
-- discussion on potential school closings

It is going to be interesting to hear what he has to say about the school closings, it seems like there really is not much detail surrounding the plan from what I have read in the paper! It is un clear if they plan on doing some more construction, or refurbishing?

Hi "dc,"
I just want to clarify-- Mr. Bruton will not be there to talk about the school closings, although folks can ask him questions about it if there's time (I'm not sure he'd be the right person in the Mayor's Office to answer them though.) After he's done, we're planning on having a separate discussion about the closings, just to share information and see what people think about it. We don't know anything more than anyone else knows at this point.

This is off-topic, but is there any word on when SOVA will get its liquor license?
SOVA is just beginning he process, so February at the earliest.
