Seeing the Light

IMG_4825
As previously mentioned the Salvation Army in the 1300 block of H Street has finally installed dressing rooms. So now you can actually try on that cool shirt/jacket/pair of jeans instead of just guessing about the fit. I'm not sure what it is (could be the light from the dressing rooms behind the two Jesus pictures that hang over the wine rack and torch light), but I find this shot oddly appealing.

is that door on the left ajar, or is it 3 inches too narrow for the frame?

The door is ajar. Look at the slant of the door and the shadow of the knob.

hey, pooster. glad to see you seem to be having a mellow day today. i was expecting your post to be something like:

"oh my god! some people on this blog are so idiotic! how could you not tell the door is open? what are you, from iowa or something???"

disclaimer for imgoph: i'm not suggesting you're an idiot. i'm just trying to show the pooster what a jerk she/he is half the time :^)

Can't get down with Salvation Army after they refused to comply with SF's policy to provide benefits to partners of LGBT employees if they were going to continue to receive SF government contracts. The west coast office was willing to comply, the national office was not and pulled the plug -- and cut off like 75% of the operating budget from the SF office who made quite a bit of money providing services under contract with SF. I know its a religious organization -- but I don't agree with their religious views and so won't shop there. Just FYI for others that may not agree either.

What Inaudible Nansense says is very true, and I can't support Salvation Army anymore either - yes, I walk right by that little red kettle without an once of guilt. However, while SA may be a bigoted organization, its important to remember that they do good work for the most vulnerable among us. If you can't give to SA, please remember to give to some other organization that tends to the needy while being inclusive of our peoples.

It is a bad policy (I that they change it) and if I write a check to a charity it isn't going to be the Salvation Army. But I don't have a problem with shopping in the store partly because it also serves the good cause of recycling goods that might otherwise get trashed. And I just like junk stores. I will point out that although they clearly are discriminating against their employees, they don't discriminate when it comes to the people who received their services.
