Cafe Roma Opens in Rosedale

I'm going to stretch the blog boundaries a bit to point your attention towards Cafe Roma, a new Italian bakery and Cafe located at 411 18th Street. I received a couple of emails about this a week or so ago and I meant to put it in the recent what's new post...but it slipped my mind. At any rate you can read more about Cafe Roma on the Rosedale Citzen Alliance's blog. Their post also features some photos that are sure to have you making the trek even on a cold day like today.

This place does look great! Too bad they didn't open up on H St. Oh well, we can't have everything. Can't wait to check it out.

Wow, I live in Rosedale and I didn't know about this. Thanks a lot for broadening your range for this one.

I went on Saturday morning, and it's even nicer than Sova! And it's only a few blocks from H Street- closer than the Florida Market I think!

And NO douche bags on laptops!

(That's a John Stewart reference for those who watch him- I'm not implying that *all* laptop users are douche bags!)

Wow !!! This is a really nice place! Cozy atmosphere with maybe the best cappacino east of San Francisco. Wonderful, wonderful cookies and bread. I'm in love. This place is a worthy destination.

The tiramasu was seriously the best I've ever had.

Nice place and beautiful decor, but I don't see how anyone could say it's nicer than Sova or Sidamo. It's much smaller than Sova, and is not nearly as comfortable. Plus, Sidamo has them beat because of the outdoor seating and the fact that they roast their own coffee. Great desserts though, and very nice people, so don't get me wrong. I wish them all the best. I'm kind of a coffee snob, and anyplace that uses an automatic machine with coffee from LaVanzza can't have the best cappuccino east of San Francisco. It's not even fresh roasted coffee. It's very mainstream. Having said all that. I will be back, and I'm sure they can only get better.

People!!!
Let's not have this argument on what cafe is better. Let's be thankful that we have three great cafes in the immediatte area. One place alone can't be all things to all people. If you like great coffee go to Sidamo, great atmoshere go to Sova, great pasteries go to Cafe Romma. But try patronize them all. If you have a favorite, by all means go there. No taste is the same.

Like Kerry, I thank you for broadening your range. I am a Rosedale home owner, find myself wistfully looking at the development on H Street and thinking that it is such a shame that we don't have that spreading further east. To those who wish that it was on H Street, remember, Rosedale is the neighborhood between H Street and the Stadium-Armory Metro Station. If our neighborhood improves, more foot traffic will be coming through Rosedale en route to H Street. In short, we all benefit from each other's development.
