I don't know about you, but if I had to commute on the Orange line in Northern VA, I might have to ponder what went wrong in my life to deserve this particular type of hell.

Personally, I like taking the bus. I take the 90 bus to school, and I overhear all sorts of interesting stuff. Last time I overheard a woman complaining about being accosted by the police because she stole two packs of Twinkies from a corner store. Another time, a man and a woman were trying to get to know each other by sharing their group home/ halfway house histories.

oh no - if suburbanites are taking the bus, how can we feel smug and superior when we take transit to work?

That's the reason I moved in from the 'burbs -- better access to Metro and public transit. Now instead of driving to the Park and Ride, standing on a cramped buss for thirty minutes, then getting on the Orange Line at WFC, then riding another 45 minutes ... I walk five blocks, ride for five minutes, then I'm at work. Couldn't be better.

I missed the days I could just ride to work on the buss. I worry though that an already stressed system may get worse.
