Was that suppose to be a "fair" hearing??? What a gas bag. Silly Philly earned his name yet again. What is that meat company that he wants to boycott???
They should have just called it a "sobriety checkpoint" and be done with it. And what was the point of the young people using this time to discuss youth power, the Berlin wall and "youth" relationships with the police?
The opinion in DC v. Heller was handed down this morning. In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court held that the 2nd amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm (as opposed to a right only related to service in a militia) and further held that the DC handgun ban and the trigger lock requirement are unconstitutional on the basis of the 2nd amendment.
It's a long way from here to there, but it appears that at some point in the not-too-distant future meaningful gun ownership will be legal again in the District.
It will be interesting to see if this has an effect on the overall crime rate in DC, particularly the murder rate.
You will only be able to have a licenced gun in your home. Since most of the current murders are assasinations, I doubt that that will change, hoever, I think we have more domestic dispute murders.
