This shooting was somewhat suprising to read about due to the extensive police presence in Trinidad during the same time period. Perhaps the police should realize they are a joke. Nobody cares when they are in the neighborhood, they continue to "work" as they would regardless of police presence.

PS - At least when the Supreme Court rules in favor of logic, the people will be allowed to defend themselves against the criminals. Looking forward to that day - lock and load!

Logic? Logic defies the MPD. I appreciate all police officers' jobs, however, the efforts of the MPD in Ward 5 are laughable. Who not only announc when and where a road blockade will occur, but also have photos of the corner displayed in free papers, openly distributed on the Metro - i.e. the Express? I went to walk my dog around the corner (passed the blockade) to find teens smoking weed in the alley (with no police anyhwere in sight) to come upon Montello and Neal to encounter a spectacle of police, reporters and neighborhood residents - accomplishing nothing.

Why would one ask are they accomplishing nothing? That would because it was publicly announced in as many free venues as possible as to where the MPD would be located - the MPD virtually screamed from megaphones as to their presence - "Everyone - we will be on this corner of a one way street at this time of day." I am unsure as to why they think people will not realize other driving alternatives when they are given advance notice of where the police will be.

What will a blockade do when the MPD openly walks and drive by people smoking weed on their front porches while children are running and playing nearby?

It's amazing how much safer I feel knowing the blockade is one block away. I am certain it will accomplish what the police are striving for - overtime.

What a joke. MPD is an embarassment in Ward 5.

You would be the same people that would sue the police if they took more drastic measures, well maybe not you guys but it would happen. what would be great is if the system worked properly and we (citizens) empowered the police to take action without being worried about the repercussions. If we could sit on all the jury's and dismiss the ridiculous suits against the police they would be able to fix the problem but they don't want to lose their jobs.

Agree hole heartedly with lock and load, I cant wait. Try breaking in my house!!! Please!!
