A look at what's going on in Trinidad, on H Street, and in the larger area north of Capitol Hill.

WP: Reality Checkpoint
The Post looks at resident feeling regarding Trinidad post-checkpoint. For the record, I graduated from George Washington, not Georgetown Law. Also, check out the Crime by the Numbers feature for a little perspective.
agree with charles. and a pox on them for not doing a little edit work on the facts. good to see that you all were able to get the word out that trinidad is not, in fact, baghdad USA.
"good to see that you all were able to get the word out that trinidad is not, in fact, baghdad USA."
True. Baghdad residents have full voting rights (theoretically). Bought and paid for by the blood of DC residents who of course don't have the same rights.
That was reasonable, though I would have liked to have seen more reaction from long time residents. I think Mark T. is right about economics. Gas prices rising will speed up the gentrification of the entire city and you'll end up w/ the European model of a well-to-do center city. It's just a question of when do you buy so you get a good return? If it's to live in I say buy now.
Wow, Paul Schwartzman got your law school wrong? Unthinkable, if only it wasn't his custom to get facts wrong in his numerous other articles over the years. Other than that, this article was among his more readable. I was disappointed to read about the guy who wants to tear down the only freestanding house in Trinidad to build condos.

You're no longer a student? Yea! Pass the bar yet?
i thought it was a lo-class move for the Post not to mention the name of your blog.

Did anyone else catch the fact that the new townhomes "Capitol Hill Oasis" are going to go for $1.5M?!

Yeah there was a checkpoint in the 3000 block of Rhode Island Avenue...everyone was stopped and checked.
They called this a "safety checkpoint" and asked for my license and registration. I know what it was and I'm still upset about it.
Especially since there has been no one else talking about it. I was made to feel like a criminal and this needs to be stopped.
The checkpoint was only 2 Saturdays ago by the way. After the trinidad checkpoints.
