4 Shot on North Capitol

FYI-

4 men were shot at the intersection of NY Ave and North Capitol this very early this morning. The Post reports on the incident. I've heard that the injuries were as follows-
1. One male with gunshot wound to the chest
2. One male conscious and breathing taken to the hospital
3. One adult male shot in the right knee
4. One adult make shot in the knee
Possibility that this resulted from a road rage incident

No one ever claimed that Poo Poo was high on tact.

To address the matter more broadly, I'd also be careful on the assumptions considering that this might have been a road rage incident. There are crazy people out there that will shoot with little or no provocation. Recall the triple homicide on Holbrook this past spring where an assailant appears to have pursued a mildly retarded man with whom he had a verbal altercation at a gas station. He followed the man and shot him and two of his friends in cold blood. There are some psycho individuals out there, so people should be careful before assuming that anyone shot on the street is some kind of thug. It isn't always the case. Sometimes the shooter is the only thug/psycho/criminal involved. It's an easy trap in which to fall, but it's wrong on many levels.
Another good example of why we should be careful is the kid who was murdered on Holbrook this spring. People got all up in arms because he was 15 and out late at night, and must therefore either be a thug, or neglected, or both. But he was with his mother [who was shot in the hand]. It turned out that they were in from out of town to visit a relative with cancer. Though it might not be the norm for 15 year olds to be out that late, I think we've all had late night visits with out of town relatives. It's all a matter of context, and we shouldn't presume to know more that we know. Plus, being out late doesn't ever mean that you deserve to get shot...so please think before you leap to that conclusion.

But being out late might lessen your chances of being shot - especially in certain neighborhoods.

Per CDR David Kamperin:

[This event] appears to have stemmed from an argument in a club in PG County, but the investigation is still on going as victims are being interviewed by detectives.

And people wonder why we bitch about clubs or restaurants that resemble clubs coming into our neighborhoods?
