Awesome! The fastest turnaround of a Trinidad shooting that I know about...

gotta love NE DC.....

just keep a police substation outside that hotel. then we can drive the perps to the burbs.

and let MD police deal with the crap...

we do enough here, most importantly, housing for folks that can't hold day jobs.

why does DC have to constantly pay the price for crime in the burbs, and yet we get NOTHING back from them?

that's all.

think about it....

it's not all about pizza joints...

addendum...

kudos to solving this (until convicted)

never stand still on your laurels.

there's a lot more work to be done:

not just reporting on stuff that has been done by local residents.

here's a list, inked, that you might want to look into.... or not...

1. "stealership" car lots
2. gangs all over trinidad
3. rape
4. running over children at rush hour
5. illegal businesses - oops, that's not happening in your neck of the woods, that's on the western side of Hl, SORRY!
6. free market drug areas in trinidad and the "wonderful" florida market - at night, when the "white folks" are locked up in their beginner homes...
7. too much more to say here. if you're not aware of the issues, so be it.

learn the issues, and vote.

we might just clean up this area....

take your elected officials to the task.

that's all.

It's irresponsible to shout "HOMICIDE CLOSURE" until after the guy has gone to trial, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison.

Does anyone have any idea what was happening last night around 2 @ 13th & G? A woman was screaming as if as was being attacked. Couldn't see her, but 911 said that had several calls. There were police and fire at the corner.

The crime in our area is commited by residents inside and outside the District. The whole notion that one side is more culpable than the other is largely irrelevant. Especially when many of the suspects live with grandmom off Benning, Uncle John in Cap Heights, and wherever else someone lives that is supposedly responsible for their welfare.

Gangs in the District are mythological. Sure, there are crews that at one point were carrying gang colors in (no, not "all over") Trinidad. But talk to anyone from PG County's gang unit and you will find out they really haven't set up shop west of the river. There's no turf, no market, and no interest.

The Florida Market at night is dead, except for rats, vagrants, and random dudes on bikes. It would be disingenuous to state otherwise. Aside from the junkies who shoot smack under the bridge on 9th Street NE (and pickup their junk in Ivy City or over at Saratoga), there is no market in that area.

Let's not forget how you are contributing to the problem, poo poo: I was once told you own a second home in Near Northeast that you keep vacant. Vacant housing is bad...real bad.

It's not irresponsible to mark a homicide closure.

A closure indicates an arrest is made and the case (on the police end) is "closed." A closure does not necessarily mean a conviction.

It's up to the prosecutor now, whether they deal, convict, etc. But "closure" is the correct terminology for right now.

poo wrote "solving" this. Which is mistaken. Cops don't list cases as "solved." They list them as "closed."

Poo Poo,

Any reponse to the claim you own a vacant property? Or does that have nothing to do with the neighborhood?
