Perhpas I am missing why DC Author is an ass. I am not part of this crowd really, for a multitude of reasons. I liked the article. I am concerned about H Street creep , meaning 1600 Maryland Avenue NE was never part of H Street. H Street Needs work, and isn't the only business district around. It's still not quite ready for prime time. There are places that will have to go like the carry-outs and the crappy looking stores. Some small businesses will also fail, it's life or rather business.
Arboretum Place offers the Carver and & Trinidad areas a chance to shine, and will hopefully spur development along the much blighted bladensburg road.
Again, I may be missing something, as I am not part of this crowd.

The author [Hunter] was being cheeky. He tried to justify his cheekiness with facts that weren't actually true. If you call yourself a journalist [which Hunter does in his profile] you are really supposed to verify that kind of thing. So yeah, he was being an ass.
i agree that he was being an ass, but i got his point.
we've come a long way, but there's still a lot more to be done.
and yeah, aside from the bars and clubs, there needs to be some substantive development in the area. yesterday, i rode around u street. there are TONS of developments in the area - not just bars and clubs.
it's all about sustainability and destination. i'll echo the only point that i felt totally comfortable with: the development is welcome.

Wow, so you say that he's an ass because according to you he got his facts wrong. Maybe he was mistaken, maybe he's not even wrong. But to resort to petty name calling just because... well that makes me ask who's the real ass.
Try not to be Joan of Arc. H Street is not the kingdom of heaven. It's not something you need to take risks to protect. It's a slightly run down commercial strip in the process of perhaps coming back in to commercial success. The city has a few of them, the Region has many more.
And this by all accounts was an editorial piece. I know we blur the lines, but journalist don't give an opinion one way or another. And it's silly to call the writer of an opinion piece a derogatory names. In fact that act show a extreme level of unsophistication and immaturity more typical of a elementary schoolyard.
Opinion pieces are reserved for less disciplined and less trained people like bloggers, columnists, and anyone else with an a-hole.

Everybody knows H St. is coming along, but has, and will have, carry out places for a long time. Soul Searcher, rereading the post what I mostly see is mischaracterizations. I thought the author said something about construction not have started on the Starburst Plaza, but unless he changed the wording it doesn't appear to quite say that. So I guess I'm complaining more about the tone.

Listen, you can attack me if you want, but what I've written is truth. If there are matters of fact that were in correct lets discuss those, but why waste time calling someone an ass. Keeping one's eye on the ball, or dare I say on the prize, is the adult thing to do. It's what differentiated the fabled ant from the grasshopper.
As for calling Inked a name, well, I don't think it was that cut and dry, but lets not resort to name calling or falling on rhetorical swords. Some random guys article isn't really worth going back to grade school over.
