WBJ: DC To Revamp Stormwater Charges
The Washington Business Journal has an interesting piece on proposed changes to the stormwater fees. The District Department of the Environment ("DDOE") will hold a hearing on the topic on the 13th. Under the new rule, single family homes, individually metered apartments/condos, and building with 3 or fewer units would pay $2.57 a month. Other structures would pay $2.57 per 1,000 feet of impervious surface on their property. So, basically this would provide an incentive (albeit a small one) for commercial properties, and large property owners to do things like install a green roof, consider setting up a rain garden, or just not unnecessarally paving that extra area.
