Shooting Near 18th & M Street

The exact location isn't terribly clear from the email, but here's what it said:

On July 25, 2009, at approximately 0100hrs, officers on patrol in the area of 1800 M Street, NE were responding for a fight when they heard several gunshots, located an adult male suffering from several gunshot wounds and saw several subjects fleeing from the scene on foot toward 18^th Place, NE.

The officers remained with the victim who was taken to an area hospital by an EMS Ambulance and later pronounced dead.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene to handle the investigation.
