Ambulance did seem slow to get there but there could have been circumstances. It's tough to tell whether anyone was working on him or whether the fire department was there. It could also use a translator. There's a lot of sorry excuses for the english language and worse when garbled through a cell phone camera.
Are the park police still patrolling Trinidad? There've been a lot less shootings in Trinidad this year. I wonder if their presence has anything to do with it.
The ambulance would have been there a lot faster if the fire house was not closed for renovations. I have not seen any work take place at the old fire house, just fences. Maybe they will start work there in the fall. I know one of the fire fighters who is assigned to the house on Florida Ave, and he said it is one of the busiest (by # of calls) on the east coast. Maybe if it was up and running there would have been a timely response.
ambulances arrive even if someone is dead on scene, right? are cops EMTs? i guess nine bullets in the back preclude the need for an ambulance. if this was your neighborhood, wouldn't you expect an ambulance to be there? i can only imagine the effect of there not being one on the people who live near the scene. what a mess
There's another article about Joyner in today's Post. Turns out that the guy had a few priors for drugs. It seems his brother didn't know, or "forgot" about it.
I also got a flyer from the African Communist people about the shooting. Apparently they're having a discussion about this incident at a bookstore in NW. I wish someone would ask them where they were last year when Blacks were killing each other in the streets - why hold send out flyers and hold discussions now and not then?
I was told once by an EMT in Va. that they had to attempt to resuscitate someone unless they saw brain matter. But cops aren't EMTs and this is DC so that doesn't help much.
Was there an ambulance at that fire house? I thought it was just two fire trucks.
The Park Police stopped activities in Trinidad after this incident. They have jurisdiction in the entirety of the District, though, and still could operate in Trinidad.
Thank God this guy shot this video. I'm sure the FBI has been going over it in their investigation.
Oh my goodness!! All the press and the negativity surrounding this case makes my skin crawl..LETS JUST GET THE OBVIOUS OUT THE WAY SINCE ITS BEEN PUBLISHED IN THE POST RECENTLY..YES he has been to jail..and YES he has had priors..
ok now.. everyone get their smart comments out the way like you've been doing..one less thug..good job park police..live by a gun die by a gun, he probably deserved it, etc etc..blah blah
Now.. that you're done I would like to express to the memory of Trey Joyner, that Trey as a friend, and a big "brother" you are truly missed by everyone and we are all hurting...I watched that video tuesday at work..and I could see a slight image behind the silver car in the video of Trey's body laying in the alley, I saw the police standing around with little concern that the person behind them was possibly clenching to his last breath.. I heard the screams of his friends and the cries of many concerned citizens on Hlbrk. Street that night..and in reality what wasnt seen on that video..was what was left of Trey in that alley the next day...The next day.. I knelt and saw that blood and flesh left from trey's bullet wounds sitting on top of tiny rain puddles.. and right there I knelt.. shed some tears and said goodbye to what was left of my friend.. It makes my stomach hurt everytime someone says something like good riddance or one less "thug"...Im not justifying right or wrong in this post..So please no one dispute what I've said..Im simply saying..Trey..I watched that video..me AND my mom both..we heard the cries, we felt the anger..and we are sorry we've lost you..and i just want to say..I miss you Trey..We all miss you..RIP Trey Joyner!!

unacceptable that during all that time, no ambulance on the scene...
I love how the gangsta wannabes keep taunting the cops. Hilarious

Apparently distraught neighbor yelling "Why'd you shoot my friend in the back" = "gangsta wannabe" according to Anon 1:00.

Wasn't the guy dead at the scene? If so, why the concern for a ambulance?
I'm actually impressed that the police stayed as calm as they did. That's a pretty ugly crowd of conerned citizens.

Kudos to the park police for an outstanding job keeping their cool in that crowd. You guys are welcome in my neighborhood anytime!
