Voice of the Hill's twitter feed is reporting that the Martini Lounge owner may sell:
ReplyDelete"Martini Lounge owner says he's selling business and building because H Street is "just not safe." Says he's witnessed four crimes this week."
Strange, there has been more crime in the past and he stayed..why now?? Can it be because he is the one in trouble around here?
ReplyDeleteWow. Wasn't Cliff on the agenda for an ANC 6A meeting last night?
ReplyDeleteOFF TOPIC:
ReplyDeleteJust a tip from one of your readers that uses Firefox/Chrome/Safari... the template you use is just a bit broken in non-Internet Explorer browsers. This can be fixed by adding: "overflow: hidden" to #wrap2 in your CSS.
It'll force the container to expand to contain its contents.
END OF ANONYMOUS NERDINESS.
Off Topic,
ReplyDeletewhat's the problem? I use Firefox and Safari. I can't see the problem.
I don't blame you: it's not that big a deal to anyone but an extremely ridiculous person like myself. But, being a ridiculous person, I've put up two example images to show what I mean:
ReplyDeleteCurrent display on non-IE browsers:

See how the white background stops just under the tops of the two columns?
As shown on IE browsers, or all browsers if you add overflow: hidden to the style for #wrap2:

See how the white frame now contains the two columns? So much nicer!
I hope you can forgive me for this silliness.
ha! funny, anon.
ReplyDeletei get what your saying, and have noticed it too.
it's minor, but an annoyance for some of us that have an eye for detail.
but please, let her focus on content first, and presentation later.
i'll come back to this blog more often if the content is pertinent - not the aesthetics of her blog.
she needs to focus on the relevance and timeliness of news/issues, and worry about 'looks' later.
don't distract her. she can't do everything herself, and i'd much rather info and dialogue which suffers far more than her templates.
TIA!

ReplyDeleteYou will have absolutely no quibbles from me that Elise's attentive curiosity, skillful writing, and soulful generosity are what make the blog great, and that any details of the template are of vanishingly small importance.
ReplyDeleteIf the FT's proprietor never has time to address this issue, that'll be just fine.
