Blog Greater Greater Washington has a post with some nice photos of the Car Barn that used to sit on the site of the Pentacle.

  2. 9 News Now also has report and video regarding the streetcar shipment. The video also discusses the challenges DDOT has in getting sufficient funds for the streetcar program:

Regardless of the challenges, I'm pleased to see DDOT moving diligently along with the streetcar project. Now if we could only get an idea on the logistics of how to power these cars...

The car barn photos are interesting and sad -- how much great architecture like that was bulldozed by this city to make way for crap like the Pentacle? Ugh...kills me even more to lay eyes on those Pentacle buildings.

  4. @JJ -

The majority of the Car Barn building still exist. It is now condos verses a new building. I actually know a few people who own at the Car Barn.

Not only does DDOT need to figure out how to power the trolley (more than likely they will try to force the city to allow the over head lines) and where to have the maintenance plus turn around locations.

  5. @derek, The one pictured above was located at 15th and Benning Road NE and torn down.

The car barn you're thinking of is further south at 14th and East Capitol St NE.

  6. ...thanks Matt. I was wondering why the building in the picture looked slightly different than what I was use to looking at.
