Part of the squatting problem in DC is directly attributable to the grossly inequitable landlord-tenant laws in DC that so overwhelmingly favor tenants that it takes months to even evict squatters. We had this problem with one of the condos in our building. Took the unit's owner several months and the U.S. Marshalls to remove the squatter who had all but ruined the apartment.
Guys, please be polite. Remember that these people are your neighbors. I ask also that anonymous users leave some kind of tag [e.g. big green cat] for the sake of being able to follow a thread. Be respectful and have fun.

ReplyDeleteThe squatters here are not holdover tenants. They are just people that illegally started sleeping in the building while it was under construction.
