When I see"Family Day," with special performances", I think low quality and a waste of time.
You may want to look closer. I've gone to a couple of "family" performance at the Atlas (even though I'm single and childless) and got the chance to see the same singers that I couldn't afford to see at the Kennedy Center. Several top notch arts organizations have funding to do outreach choose to bring events to the Atlas. Yes sometimes they are truncated or modified versions (of a full Opera for instance) but nothing I've seen has been a "waste of time."
The family day will feature performances by Christylez Bacon, who was just nominated for a GRAMMY and a WAMMIE for his collaboration with Cathy Fink and Marcy Marker, "Banjo to Beatbox"; Coyaba Dance Theater, Tappers With Attitude & Urban Artistry; BodyMoves Contemporary Dance Theater & Reverb, a WAMMIE nominated a cappella sextet. And there will be interactive dance and visual arts workshops for all ages. Come spend some time at INTERSECTIONS.
People interested in hearing more of Cathy & Marcy's music from "Banjo to Beatbox" - all merchandise is 25% off! www.banjotobeatbox.com
