I just received this. The Ohio was at 1380 H Street. I think it's the building between the vacant lot and the Salavation Army because I believe I've seen some sort of notice there.

Attached for your information are copies of raze permit applications recently submitted to the Historic Preservation Office for an administrative clearance. HPO provides this general public announcement because of the frequent neighborhood interest in raze applications.

HPO is one of a group of agencies and private utilities that clear raze applications before permits are issued. The HPO clearance of a raze application indicates either that the property is not subject to the historic preservation law, or that the demolition has been approved through the process provided in the preservation law.
HPO endeavors to maintain fair, efficient, and prompt processing of these applications. We routinely clear raze applications that do not involve historic preservation issues. If a raze application may involve a matter of significance to neighborhood planning and development, we may hold the application until the expiration of the official notice period that DCRA is required to give to the affected Advisory Neighborhood Commission.

i don't think there is anything behind that fence, isn't it just a vacant lot now? what are they tearing down?
Based on the photos in Google Maps Street View and DC's Master Address Repository, it looks like this is the building with a formstone facade. In the photos, the "King Nails" building is between 1381 H St and the Salvation Army.
Looks like there might be old bones under all those years of neglect. But very small building on a narrow lot.
A couple of observations:
This end of H St NE is zoned HS/C-3-A, so it could be interesting to see what is planned, especially if these lots are combined. Whatever it is, it will be a lot bigger than what it replaces.
The assessed value of this property in 2010 was $190,080, split $144,000 land and $46,080 building. Looks like it started being taxed at the vacant property rate in 2007, resulting in annual taxes of $6000-9000 since then.
