This is so freaking cool!
This HD screen may be the best in town. I hope this succeeds so we can have lots more movie series at the Atlas.
This is really terrific. Thanks to those who put this together.u
Saw my first classic opera ever yesterday, at the Atlas. What a great introduction! This was a very lush production with beautiful photography costumes, and sets. The film is subtitled too, so it was pretty easy to follow what was happening. It was a great experience. Much to my surprise (I thought that I didn't like opera) I will be going back to see the other. By the way, they had a preview of Swan Lake, it looks like a "do not miss".
For folks who go to live performances, how does the sound of these canned operas compare?
It's great we've got a movie theater again on H!
I'd be cool to combine live music with the HD movie screen. They do have a pit there. This could be real fun.
20 bucks is too much. I'd check it out for 10
For 10, you get netflix, not a big HD screen and a comfortable seat.
um... for $10 I can get a ticket to any movie theater in DC
Hi all! The price for the Opera in Cinema tix reflects the costs of the operas and is comparable to other opera in cinema programs in other cities.

Other film series at the Atlas will feature far lower ticket prices. We hope that you will come and check something out!
My wife and I have seen two of these so far, La Traviata and Carmen last night. They were both wonderful experiences. High quality performances recorded in high quality and with artful direction. The close ups are something you can't get in person. Attendence is very low, and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would enjoy this. I do agree the twenty is a little pricey, ten is not enough, maybe fifteen? We will attend at least one more in the series.
