I just picked up a whole pie of the baltimore bomb and brought it in to work today for our potluck lunch. People were fighting over the last slice!

The Baltimore bomb was awesome. I had it last week. I am still not sure what was in it, but it was fantastic. However, after the novelty and excitement of having DDP on H Street is it realistic that we will continue to pay $30 plus dollars per pie? I have never been to their Baltimore store but do are the prices the same, or are we getting higher DC prices?

We also took a bomb to a dinner party and turned everyone there diabetic, but they found it completely worthwhile. It's made of cookies, which I don't understand, so I figure it's magic.

I have been to the charm city location and the prices were the same. They're hand made.

The thing b'more did have that H St. doesn't were mini pies which were perfect for two people. I hope they start doing them down here. Also, a way to warm them up wouldn't suck either...but NOT a microwave.

Thanks for being here pieman!

I'm hoping they'll offer some kind of special where you can get a free slice after every 5 or 6 slices purchased. The pies are awesome but the prices are really putting a dent in my bank account. I will still be buying pies regardless, just not as often.

My husband and I took home the SMOG (steak, mushroom, onion and guerre cheese) savory pie and not only was it delicious, but it was well worth the cost. The pie was loaded with meat and very filling. We also got the peanut butter and chocolate pie and I have to admit that the Baltimore Bomb pie was better... can't beat the Bomb!

I hope they start serving chips too!

Just want to share that I was unimpressed with DDP. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't any better than a piece of pie u can get anywhere. I suppose I did have high expectations going in, though. I've tried 2 different types of sweet pie- I haven't tried the savory. I left wondering if people in the neighborhood have never had a really good piece of pie before.

Really? Where else in DC can I find pie like that?

I got a Baltimore bomb and a SMOG. The Baltimore Bomb really was one of the best pies I've had, it had the consistency of pecan pie filling but it was more of a vanilla custard flavor, went waay too quickly. The SMOG was good, not my favorite but definitely tasty and was a lot of food. Yeah they're pricey and I can't see paying $28 for an apple pie but I'd say it's worth it for the two pies I mentioned above.

That's hilarious Tom :) These guys have won a ton of awards for their pies and have been on the food network channel several times already. Their pies are FAR from any ordinary pie. Which pie did you order?

agree...very underwhelming. I think my expectations were set too high. I didn't feel like I got my money's worth.

For those of you who don't think their pies are worth the money would you mind telling us what you had and/or where you've had better pies in dc?

My partner and I ate there a couple of weeks ago. We decided to share a slice of the apple pie, because H Street Country Club was not open for there Sunday Service yet. We thought the apple pie was a little tart and not juicy as we were used to eating. The man behind the counter ask "How did you like youe selection",we replied just okay. Shortly, thereafter he brought as the Baltimore Bomb and redeemed DDP's. Thanks you guys rock.

I'm a big fan of DDP--especially the fruit pies, as the custard pie base is a little too citrus-y for me--but I hope service gets better soon. I've been there three times now and each time the staff, while friendly, was disorganized and quite inefficient. It was painful to watch, especially when the line began snaking out the door. I don't mind paying more for great pie, but I do expect more competent service.

The $32 price for a savory pie seems steep, but the SMOG pie we bought provided five or six meals. When you do the math, it's actually not that expensive.

Ok it's 11:02 on Friday night. I will start by saying I do love DDP but the first ten minutes we were here it took two people the entire ten to get their slices of cherry pie. NOT EXAGERATING. We have now been here twenty minutes, ordered a slice of cowboy, BBQ porq and peanut butter chocolate and still have not gotten any pie.

I DO LOVE YOUR PIE but wow, figure it out. It's now 25 minutes and no pie. Please fix your customer service. I have heard this from all my friends that I have sent here. I want to see you succeed cause I love me some pie.

Also, make more SMOG.

pieman- I ordered the coconut pie- it had zero coconut flavor. I asked my companion to figure out what flavor it was, and he had no idea!

I've had better pie in pretty much every restaurant in DC where I've ordered it. The presentation was also lacking- gourmet pie should never be dumped into a Dinty Moore turkey pot pie container and handed to the customer.

Ah - the coconut pie is one of several pies at ddp I refuse to try. I'm confident after you try the balt bomb you'll be going back for more.

I tried the coconut chocolate, and enjoyed it. I shared it with a friend who doesn't like coconut (except in my curries) and he liked it too. I thought the pie had plenty of flavor, but maybe it was understated if my friend liked it. FYI: I don't really like sweet desserts much, and I don't care for most fruit pies (cobblers and tarts are a different story).

I can say that DDP's savory pies are quite good.
