Tommy Wells: H Street Construction

Wow. They originally promised us no more than three (I think) blocks under construction at one time. They broke that promise, and the official reason was so that they could meet the December 2010 deadline.

Now they've given up on saying they're going to meet that deadline, and are saying "substantial completion" in June 2011.

How can a six month slip, despite tripling or quadrupling your efforts, be ascribed to the weather?

Because DDOT can not even manage the the high priced private contractor that is suppose to project manage the H Street contractors. So much for the expertise of private industry.

Apparently DDOT is sticking to the three block promise however the other utilities are not. WASA, Pepco and Washington Gas are also doing work. That's why the whole street is mess.

Vote Gray if you want this debacle to be studied for another few years. Remember Wells / Fenty's actions in support of the corridor come the primary.
