Get Ready For the H Street Festival Sept. 18th
Check out this cool video from HSMS on last year's festival:
What was your favorite part of last year's H Street Festival? What would you like to see at this year's festival that wasn't there last time?

We're hard at work on the 2010 H Street Festival which will be Saturday, September 18, from Noon til 6. This year, we're adding two blocks so that the grounds will go from 8th Street east to the concert stage at 14th Street.
We'll have some of our greatest hits from the past and plan to add new things. We'll try to put as much great stuff as we can on H Street to make this the best community festival in town.
Thanks, Inked for posting this. I hope people chime in with good ideas!
Tom A. - We anticipated your wish! There is a 20 x 20 wooden dance floor on order from our production company. It's going to be set up on the street outside of Joy of Motion so they can present dance groups and then invite festival attendees to participate. You get to dance in the street!
Step Afrika is in town for the Festival so they'll give some step dancing classes. There will be drop-in Icons of Music Video classes too so you can learn to dance like Janet Jackson or Lady Gaga! Wear your best Gaga get-up and win a prize!
Just letting you all know it is very insensitive to have this festival on the holiest day of the year in Judaism- Yom Kippur- a day of fasting and reflection. I am sure its hard to find a date that works for everybody, but, you'll be turning away attendance from a significant part of the community because you failed to do any homework. Thanks for being inclusive to all in the growing H Street community.
8:52, it's really hard to schedule a fall festival. The organizers picked this weekend because they did do their homework. But, that homework didn't involve religious holidays, but rather other large local street festivals. It's virtually impossible not to conflict with another major one in DC that time of year. This presents a major limitation on scheduling. While it's unfortunate that you cannot attend this year, someone else will no doubt feel the same way about a different festival next year.
Lets all not have fun so those who choose not to have fun don't miss out. Isn't sacrifice part of religion? It's not supposed to be easy. That's why when my coworkers went to a Brazilian steakhouse on Ash Wednesday, I said "f--- it" and went
I am going to second the comment about the insenstivity of planning the festival on the holiest Jewish holiday. While I know it is tough to schedule things, as I am a scheduler myself, I still think it is insensitive. I would almost guarantee that this would not be scheduled on Easter Sunday or were it a winter festival, Christmas.

Get the Lobster truck so that we can have a lobster roll throw down with Liberty Tree. How about the korean taco truck?
If anyone from the Atlas reads this- please try to have your artists perform OUTSIDE!
Far too few people saw the great performances.
That video is really cute. Looking forward to September.
The art cars were pretty cool.

I got a couple of laughs hearing people singing karoke outside of Sticky Rice! The variety of food vendors was great too.

yes, i'm quite sure the festival organizers were trying to screw the Jews. Dig a little deeper..I'm sure you'll find Mel Gibson is somehow involved.
C'mon, man!
