Am I the only person who absolutely hates Taylor's new website? There's too much going on and the navigation is annoying. Simplicity is key for restaurant website design!
Oh, and from the Wonkabout post: "former open-air crack market"? Yawn.
I don't really read Wonkabout but that was pretty poorly written.
And on the subject of Sticky Rice. What's the deal with the Elliott Smith look-alike bartender? I know people hate hearing who they look like night after night but there has to be some effort going into that.
Jaybeas -- no, you're not alone. My gf and I both find it maddening. It's another example of why Flash/Silverlight/etc. are evil -- they encourage web designers to go so hog wild expressing their inner artistes that they produce something frustrating to use.
A little off the topic but I was driving through Brookland which is still part of DC and there were overhead wires galore all the way up to Rhode Island Ave and beyond. So what's the big hoopla about streetcar overhead wires. I took pictures but not sure how to post them in the comments section.
Its great to see so much great press. Back in the early days of this blog, it would take a year to accumulate this many news stories about H Street happenings. We've come a long way.
Taylor's new website is a crime against nature and my eyesight. Hey Taylor: I want to see your menu, hours, and phone number. I do not want some swooshing slow-loading thing that makes me dizzy.
Taylor:
More mayonnaise, less website animation.
Thanks.
Thanks for the link to my Dangerously Delicious post. I went to Gonzaga a decade and a half ago, and it was good to be back in the neighborhood. So much going on and so much promise. Especially when the road construction ends -- reminded me of the areas torn up during the Green Line work -- areas that are now thriving or on their ways toward thriving.
Brookland isn't in the old city (L'Enfant City) and therefore isn't subject to the legislation which covers the Old City and Georgetown.
This is why I suggested for at least the past 18 months that the streetcar should be implemented first up there, where they don't have to worry about the wires law.
Although the compromise passed by City Council is fully workable wrt H Street. If the feds sign off on it.
hate. Hate. HATE Taylor's new website.
I just had to see Taylor's new website for myself. Wow. That is TOO TOO much. Maybe it's just becuase I'm 8.5 months preggs, but it did make me dizzy!
I mean, it *looks* cool , but who wants to squint, pull their head back and brace themselves for every page change?
I hope Taylor's peeps are reading this!
Just the amount of time it took to see the sandwich being made---before actually entering the website was too long. I don't have time for that--especially when I'm hungry at 7pm and wanting to quickly look at their menu before ordering take-out or pick up. Sorry Taylor--
Even with a fat connection here at work, it took a while to load. Its clever but but overall too much.
wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to much Taylor.
