Hey looks like H street is the best choice based on the response.

i wonder if this is a hard decision for many people.

some will like the residential yet metrocessible petworth.

some will like the h street commercialness and walkability.

clearly both are great areas and both houses like nice.

I think anyone who pays 500+ grand for a house in *that* location (the Tenn. Ave one) is nuts. Buy in Trinidad and invest the hundreds of thousands you save. Or buy two houses in Trinidad.

Agree with Rob. Take a look at what you can presently buy in Rosedale right now for half that price and you'd be fool to pay 500K for something on Tenn. Ave.

Personally, I don't like being compared to Petworth, although that house is beautiful and near Petworth Metro is a very nice area. I think a comparison to Col. Heights is more appropriate.

h street land lord,

h has more in common with georgia avenue that it does with the dense development of columbia height's commercial corridor.

also, the "fools" buying 500k house on h are what is going to allow rosedale and trinidad to do the same in 5 years.

Anon 8:55am - I see what you are saying, but there are some big buildings on H, especially once the new developments are completed.

same with georgia avenue.
you been there recently?

I think both neighborhoods have a lot to offer. They're actually pretty similar in a lot of ways. One isn't better than the other. Both have pros and cons. In a perfect world, they'd both be less expensive and crime wouldn't be a factor, but guess what? It's not a perfect world.

Anon 5:22,

I noted the new buildings in my original post. However, in terms of name recognition and people going to places as a destination, there is no comparison between Petworth and H Street. The stuff around Petworth metro is great for local residents, but people won't come from Virginia to go there.
