Indictments in 2009 Shooting Off H Street

The Post reports that ten gang members from the Barry Farm area of SE DC were originally indicted for drug and gun related offenses in the area. They are accused of dealing in crack and PCP. The new set of indictments includes older crimes, and some murders. One of those murders is the April 10, 2009 shooting of Crystal Washington. Around 8:30am Ms. Washington, 44 years of age (and a mother of 4), was cutting through the vacant lot at 14th and Maryland on her way to the bus stop when she was shot several times. She was due to testify against one of the gang members in an unrelated trial three days later. Three of the gang members have been charged in the killing in aid of racketeering. They could face life in prison, or the death penalty.

I can't believe they shot her in broad daylight. Its like something right out of the Wire. You just don't think it can happen these days. I'm very happy that these guys will be brought to justice.

Sarcastically speaking, we need a show trial. We need eye for an eye justice, bring back "Old Testament" Moses law. We would televise a firing squad execution of the bastards in Barry Farms and send a message to our neighbourhood thugs. "You wanna go to war?! We'll take you to war, okay?" Tony Montana (Scarface). Sorry, killing a mother of 4 leaves me with no mercy.

Let's face it. The way we run the eastside of town (away from embassy row and the white house) is a scandal and a shame. Frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing martial law and Trinidad-style checkpoints until we live like we got some sense. Congressmen and women should laugh in Eleanor Norton-Holmes face when we ask for statehood. What is she going to bring to the floor of the house for our country, "The Don't Snitch Campaign".

I used to be unequivocally liberal, then I was tested by moving to DC.
