Nobody likes to feel like the new kid for long so
Eater and
Curbed have set themselves up with a little background by launching with archives of past stories on the area. Check out both blogs, as they are destined to sport some serious reporting power just like they do in other cities.

There is an amazing amount of time spent discussing restaurants in this city. Not a crticism, but I'm just amazed.
mark: i agree. i think it speaks to the disconnect between those who are successful and well-off (or at least not living paycheck-to-paycheck) and those who are not.
i'm not saying that the non-gentry don't care about new restaurants, but there are other concerns (public safety, schooling, employment, etc.) that are arguably more important that just don't get the requisite level of attention in the blogosphere. why is that? can't answer exactly, but on some level it's certainly easier to post pictures of the freshly-painted interior of a new cupcake store than to opine about how to keep children from low-income, single-parent households from slipping into a life of crime and despair.
