Roti Mediterranean Opens in NoMA Today

Roti Now Open in NoMa

Washington, D.C., March 2, 2011 – Roti Mediterranean Grill opens its doors today in NoMa, bringing another healthy lunch option to this growing retail market, which experienced a retail explosion in 2010 with eight new shops and restaurants.

Expect a modern Mediterranean experience with a speedy line, nutritious options, exceptional service, and major value. The eatery dishes out casual, tasty and healthful Mediterranean cuisine, known for its abundant use of olive oil, vegetables and legumes. Emphasizing robust flavors, Roti serves freshly-cut, fire-roasted meats, traditional side dishes such as falafel and hummus, and classic favorites like the Chicken Roti Sandwich and the Mediterranean Chopped Chicken Salad. Roti also extends goodwill to customers with loyalty programs, and supports the nonprofit Common Threads, an organization whose mission is to educate children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being through cooking.

Roti is located at 1275 First Street, NE, in NoMa’s Constitution Square, between Tynan Coffee & Tea and Potbelly Sandwich Works, which both opened last fall. All told, eight new shops and restaurants opened in NoMa in 2010, and 2011 will bring the next slew of shops and restaurants:

· DC’s largest (50,000 SF) Harris Teeter opened in December, marking First and M Streets, NE, as the new heart of the neighborhood.
· CVS opened in January at 1200 First Street, NE.
· The Perfect Pita opens at 1300 Second Street, NE, in April.
· Two well-known local chefs will open unique, full-service restaurants this spring. Todd Gray’s Watershed, featuring seafood from the Eastern seaboard, opens in April with the Hilton Garden Inn, NoMa’s second hotel. Chef Gillian Clark of Colorado Kitchen fame, will open Kitchen on K Street in the Loree Grand in late spring.

Already an award-winning staple in the Chicago food scene, Roti plans substantial expansion in the Washington market. Adding to its popular Pennsylvania Avenue spot, Roti opened its second DC location in NoMa. It will be followed by L’Enfant Plaza in April, George Washington University in May, 1629 K Street in June, and Bethesda in July. Roti isn't bad, can't say it was worth waiting in the long-ass Penn. ave line but no complaints (other than they call themselves "Roti" when they don't actually have roti).

I keep seeing that Kitchen on K Street is supposed to open late Spring, but I live in the down the hall from the space and the building management just sent out an announcement regarding the beginning of construction with an end time of mid-July...

Happy for another dining option in NoMA but I hope these places (e.g. potbelly) would have longer operating hours and not just cater solely to the work crowd
