Though not home to large scale development yet, the 600 block of H Street is home to a new health store (Aspire), Inspire Bar-B-Q, and Adobe Design Center and Showroom.
DCmud examines the noticeable gap between the developments on the west end of H Street, and those on the east end.

Good article. Although I agree that development (ie restaurants/bars etc) will meet in the middle between say 4th and 8th. HR 57 certainly helped that process.
That area is prime for retail and will not fill out until the street car is running. No one is going to drive over through construction with no parking to go shopping. They will, however, hop off of the street car when they see a store or sale they like. I hope this area waits for the proper time because the only thing that will move in beforehand is more bars and restaurants which we don't need.
"more bars and restaurants which we don't need.". LOL. I remember when there was nothing and people were complaining to get something. Maybe it should have said "more complaining amd complaining which we don't need."
Anon 8:36...what was the complaint?
It's WAY too early to be talking about no more bars or restaurants. Regardless, retail is going to take a long time to develop. Would you invest your money in such a venture? Hella hard to make money.
BTW, what is happening and going to be at the space next to Aspire (shown in the photo)
Shame what the new owner did to 644 H (the greenish building in the photo). The new color that was recently applied should be called "rotting vomit." And what's with adding fake keystones over the windows? Its a shame to screw up a nice, simple facade like that. Lastly, the smoked window glass is a clear H Street Zoning Overlay violation and needs to be removed. I still can't figure out after 10 years which rules in DC get enforced and which rules its okay to violate....
Derek,
Not sure on that one. Owner is mum on the topic. I like the color.
@inked health store not heath store.
