What a week for retail on H St.
People got that hardware store they wanted. Not a mom and pop but it will do. Now the bike shop. What next?
A store that sells housewares would be nice.
Hill's kitchen on H!
This is the best news yet. Congrats to them both!!
A "Monkey's Uncle" on H st would be awesome.
This will totally fail unless they get their liquor license?
30 minutes ontil POP steals this post.
Re: what a week..
How about this one?
Dave B: what next? In my dreams, the biggest loss H Street retail suffered after the riots is remedied when Chuck Levin's finally returns to H. Right now there's no comparable vendor anywhere in the District; and a store that was even a third as busy as the Wheaton store Chuck Levin's moved to would be a *lot* of people brought to H.
This is referenced in a post in another thread, but it appears Capitol Hill Towers @ 900 G Street just sold for $22 million. Very interesting.

in reference to kenny g's link - that area is the CVS. Is the developer going to replace the CVS?
Old news. EastBanc bought that site back in May.
Feed me future news.
OK, future news: two years after Harry Thomas Jr. gets out of prison, he'll be re-elected to the DC Council.
H J Thomas jr will not get reelected, if the new Councilmember is good at constituent services. That was the Thomas strength. However if a placeholder is elected, then no doubt he will be back.
Stealing money from constituents = "good constituent services". Only in DC.

so when is the next tweed ride?
I just wonder about the man looking out of the window... how did he get there? what's he doing? who's he looking at? what's he saying?
He seems to have an eye on those bicycles down below- maybe he's saying this would make a fine bike store.
Robin,
I shot this photo during the 2009 H Street Festival, so he's probably watching the crowd.
oswald
he's looking longingly for a trolly..... He's still sitting up there!
