Introducing YoonHa's Kitchen & Deli

DSC_0015

You know the Korean place in the 300 block of Morse (in the Florida Market)? It has changed owners (and names) again, and is back open. I stopped by Saturday on my way to Mexican Fruit. I ordered the bulgogi dupbap, which was decent, but I was surprised to see that they cooked it with broccoli, red bell pepper, and carrots. It came with three sides (all of which I enjoyed): fish cakes, bean sprouts, and kimchi. It also came with a light seafood soup, which was fine, but nothing remarkable. The menu is short right now, but the owner indicated that he planned to add more items later. Here's some details:

5am-3pm (It's a wholesale market, ok?)

That 3pm closing time kills me -- I'm just *never* home from work by then. And that's a bummer, because I happily drive to Annandale for Korean food now; I'd love to be able to get yook gae jang someplace nearby. That's the soup that got me through grad school.

Chris,
Try them on a Saturday, or get up early and grab a quick Korean breakfast. It sounds unusual, but I've been known to do it.

Out of curiosity, is this place legally required to close at 3pm? I know many of the stores hold those hours, but it would seem rather short sited to close so early considering there is neighborhood demand.

Gonzo,
I think it's just that demand dies away after that time. If you want a change, bring ten friends in on a Sat afternoon and ask him to stay open one night for you guys to come back.

Morse and 3rd? 3rd doesnt go up that far right? Where is this place exactly?

Anon 12:34 -- Yeah, it's 4th and Morse.

Morse takes a 90 degree turn and that becomes the 300 block of Morse. So it isn't 4th and Morse, but it isn't exactly 3rd and Morse. It's where 3rd and Morse would be.

I'm guessing they close at 3 for the same reason that Chinito's keeps its (very limited) hours: They can staff the place with a single shift of workers, which must dramatically reduce their overhead, and lead to happier employees.
