Tree House Lounge Coming to Florida Ave

Untitled
A new sign has gone up at the location of the long shuttered Capitol Hill Premium Cigar & Tobacco at 1006 Florida Ave. Tree House Lounge has a soft opening scheduled for Friday, April 12th (per the website). That soft opening will only include the upstairs bar, but they hope to have the downstairs up and running by this summer. Two bands are scheduled to play the soft opening ($10 cover). The first band is Nobody's Business (I'm going to describe their music as bluesy rock) at 8:30, followed by Skydivers at 11:30.

The main focus will be on live music. I saw blues, jazz, rock, and bluegrass among the bands listed. The website mentions plans to initiate a weekly open stage night on Wednesdays (starting tonight, according to the website) called Blues Workshop, and hosted by Johnny Bonneville from 9pm-12am.

Too bad they won't continue to have cigars. That place was a great concept, and with the rapid restrictions on smoking elsewhere, there was a demand for it.

if it was a great concept, by definition, it would probably still be in business

Thanks to all the great neighbors for coming by to check us out and say hi! We feel so fortunate to be in this beautiful neighborhood. Thank you so much for supporting us!

Just left there. Looks great inside. They have some minor issues to work on (feedback in the sound system etc) but overall a great addition to the area. Pretty unique in that we dont have many/any small live music venues (assume theyplan to have cheap covers). Looking forward to going there again!

pap and petey's which became pap and petey's (v. 2.0) which became Toyland which became Big Board used to have small 3-4 piece blues bands from time to time. It was the right idea but just a little too soon and didnt get traction. With the slightly off-the beaten path locale of Tree House relative to H, they might be hard pressed to get a draw. Need to advertise and get the word out. Good luck! Wish them well!

Waaaay back in about 2004ish that building housed a great coffee shop that was owned by the guys that own Evolve Property management. I know as it was after I finished culinary school I stopped by there to apply for work. I was going to accept the job they offered as it was close to home even though the pay wasn't the greatest, I thought it would have been a great place to work for some great guys. They closed the place before I could start, but the concept was spot on in that location.

@adam smith, it was a great concept implemented poorly. No advertising, off the beaten path, sporadic hours.

Appreciate the interest in our new bar! Starting next Thursday, we will be passing out VIP cards to neighbors: 20% off drinks and free cover. The reason we haven't started advertising too much is because we're re-designing the 1st floor bar and opening up the patio in front. Right now, just the upstairs bar is open.
