Today is Giving Tuesday, Support the Intersections Festival
There are so many worthy causes out there hoping for your support. One such cause is the Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival. Each year the festival brings in visitors from around the region, and artists from all over the place. Now in its fifth season, INTERSECTIONS offers a ton of events for all ages and interests. Performances (all of which take place at our own Atlas Performing Arts Center, 1333 H Street) include: jazz, dance, aerialists, sketch comedy, spoken word, percussion, singing, tap dancing, puppetry, and much more. Many events are free, or low cost. Please considering helping fund the INTERSECTIONS Festival.

I really appreciate the Atlas and am considering donating to them though my jobs campaign, but then I saw admin (AFR) % at 30%+ whereas Studio's is like 9%. So O have concerns. Is the info re the AFR wrong. Only 70% to programming seems high. And I give to several charities.
Hi. I'm Sam Sweet, executive director of the Atlas. I appreciate your thoughtful comment, Robert. I realize our admin costs are a bit higher than other non-profits (although still in a range most consider acceptable). In addition to the Atlas' own programs, we operate a large building which supports the programs for many other arts and community groups, too. Providing space for the community is part of our mission, but operating costs for the building add to the admin percentage. That puts us somewhat higher than others. Let me know if I can provide more info to you - and thanks very much for considering supporting us.
Mr. Sweet I understand your position, and your intentions. I'll send you a direct email at your atlas address. The point I raised here were not addressed, but taking them off line is probally best.
No money to be made in unknown name groups like Capital City Symphony,Step Afrika or Joy of Motion. Close the place down and turn it into condos or a nice exclusive club.
