Fifth Street Folly at Union Market this Weekend

Grab your jacket and head over to Union Market this weekend for the series of indoor and outdoor events that make up Fifth Street Folly. Here's some of what to look for:


Thread: (a free fashion and design showcase and market) returns. This year it's inside the old Maurice Electric warehouse (500 Penn Street). "[A] bazaar-like journey through the best of on trend fashion. The market continues to recruit a variety of local and national fashion creatives - and for the first time ever - will welcome mobile vendors to this November's line-up. Southern trendsetter Billy Reid and beaded jewelry designer Tsion Rocks are just a few of the names that will set-up-shop for the weekend." Full participant list. 1-6pm Friday, 10am-6pm Saturday, and 10am-5pm Sunday.

Pop Up Beergarden from Bluejacket & Red Apron: DC brewery Bluejacket and Red Apron Butchery team to serve you local brews and local meats (Nathan Anda's famous franks). Located on a lot on Penn, between 4th and 5th. 4-7pm Friday-Sunday.

The Emporiyum: The Emporiyum is a two day marketplace featuring more than 60 artisan food vendors from throughout the region. Here are some of the participants: "Erik Bruner-Yang (Toki Underground, Maketto), Spike Gjerde (Woodberry Kitchen), Bryan Voltaggio (Volt), and Luke’s Lobster welcome a roster of visitors including East Side King, Momofuku Milk Bar, Mast Brothers Chocolate, Black Seed Bagels, Bittermilk, Quin Candy, Butter & Scotch, Bellocq Tea." Full partipant list. 11am-4pm Saturday and 11am-3pm. Tickets required ($20 general admission if you buy early, $30 at the door, kids under 12 admitted free).

Gilt City Warehouse Sale: Gilt City brings you designer clothing, accessories, and home decor at up to 90% off. Features a John Varvatos pop up. Tickets required ($10 general admission). 3-11pm Friday and Saturday.

Live music, face painting, balloon art, and much more designed to appeal to all ages. There's also some stuff going on inside Union Market (1309 5th Street) itself. Boston based skincare shop, Follain  will have a pop up shop. Also keep an eye for a clothesline art sale called Hanging On A Line. It will be curated by Tom Bunell, an adjunct faculty member at American University, and consists of works on paper by a wide variety of DC artists and students.
