The announcement follows:
The Office of Councilmember Orange is joining with the family of the late Wilhelmina Lawson her home-going service, celebration of life. Wilhelmina Lawson, a Ward 5 and Trinidad community civil leader and community activist passed away recently.
Ms. Lawson was well known in the Ward 5 community and worked tirelessly for her community and the ward of which she was so fiercely proud and protective. She was an organizer, a mentor, and a fighter against violence and drugs. She was a champion for education and grassroots engagement. She was a staunch guardian of the people she cared about. She represented her community in several leadership capacities: chief among them was ANC and Civic Association President, the federal “Weed and Seed” program and numerous other causes. Her strength, iron resolve, determination and generosity will not be forgotten by our community, our ward or the District she loved dearly.
