A reader writes in seeking to find out if anyone recognizes the cat pictured above and knows if he or she has a home. The cat was trapped in an alley behind 6th Street between I and K Streets. The reader took the cat to be scanned, but they found no microchip. Please call 202/997-9399 if you know this cat.

hope he finds his family again.
I am curious, how do stray cats survive? Do they go through the trash? Do they eat rats?
Re: "how do stray cats survive?" I am familiar with the alley where this particular cat was found. There is a woman who comes by on a regular basis and puts food out for the strays that live there.
It's a stray, leave it alone
what do they eat if no one feeds them?

The cat was declawed so not well equipped to live outside. Also a clear sign that he'd lived indoors and is either lost or was kicked out.
well, if nobody claims him, can we get him a foster family? I'll talk to the GF, see, if she wants a declawed cat.
Poor thing, lost his family, lost his claws. Lost his home.
