Got New Year's Eve Plans?

The end of the year is the perfect time to reflect on the changes we've seen this year, it's also cause for celebration as we embark on a new year. Those looking to celebrate out on the town have no shortage of quality local options. A partial list appears below. DC Harvest (517 H Street) offers three courses for $59 with optional wine/cocktail pairings available for additional charge. The price includes an amuse bouche and champagne toast. Call (202) 629-3296 for reservations.

Little Miss Whiskey's (1104 H Street) hosts a DJ in from NYC, and features an $80 open bar for those 23 years and older. Tickets available online.

Kitty's Saloon (1208 H Street) keeps it simple with a $25 open bar (includes food).

Da Luft (1242 H Street) offers a variety of DJs for your entertainment. It's free 8-10pm (open bar during that time), and $25 if you go later. Champagne toast at midnight.

Sol Mexican (1251 H Street) has no cover for the evening, drink specials, a complimentary champagne toast, and a DJ.

Sally's Middle Name (1320 H Street) is mostly booked up, but I'm told they still have space in their 11pm seating. Three courses and a glass of wine for $35.

Ocopa (1324 H Street) is also doing a special menu. Four courses for $45, with optional pisco pairing for an additional $25.

Maketto (1351 H Street) is sold out of online tickets, but will have a limited number available at the door for $120 a pop. That gets you open bar, food, party favors, and a midnight champagne and pizza toast.

The Lodge at Red Rocks (1348 H Street) invites you to celebrate in style with a 1920s (optional) attire party. No cover (but RSVP to reserve your spot), and a champagne toast at midnight.

Rock & Roll Hotel's (1353 H Street) plans feature ten DJs on three floors, two dance floors, an open bar, a midnight balloon drop, a photo booth, and hors d'oeuvres for $80 ($100 day of the event). Tickets available online.

Over on Bladensburg Road Jimmy Valentine's (1103 Bladensburg Road) throws down this New Year's Eve with two options: $15 general admission, or $70 top shelf open bar.

Anon 11:29 -- IIRC, this was in Washington Business Journal last spring. It's certainly bad news for Metro Mutts. But that's DC. We say we want unique, local stores and quirky shops and so on; but really deep down, we want Starbucks and Chop'd and so on. We just want Reston.

The problem is the local places charge too much and don't offer amazon service to make up for it. Just being local doesn't cut it. You have to offer great service and be 1/3 to 3/4 of the price of the big box stores. Tired of getting lesser quality just because it's "local"

It's about time for Starbaucks to come to H Street. Whether we like it or not.
