Twitter lit up last night with news that popular local restaurant the Argonaut (1433 H Street) was padlocked and had a no trespassing sign posted. Another neighbor chimed in that she had just eaten at the Argo on Sunday, and everything seemed normal, except that the taps weren't working. A notice was posted to Twitter yesterday afternoon by the group that runs a poker night at the Argonaut announcing that establishment would not be open that evening. I've reached out to a few representatives from the restaurant, and will update with news as I am able. Let's hope they plan to reopen soon.

The Trinidad Neighborhood Association will hold a meeting tonight at the Trinidad Recreation Center (1310 Childress Street). The meeting is at 7 p.m., and will feature a speaker from Gallaudet University on the relationship between GU and the bordering Trinidad neighborhood, which is home to many students and University staff. A representative of the Office of the People's Counsel will present on energy efficiency.
Taylor Gourmet's location at 1116 H Street will be closed for renovations over the next couple of weeks.

Ate/drank there this weekend. No draft beer, only bottles, and the bartender seemed completely uncaring. Staff said the owner couldn't be bothered to fix the things that were breaking (draft beer system, etc), so may be a sign business was down.
place is not good. got to give credit where credit is due (with regard to it being an old original H street spot), but still.

Yeah, let's all go to Halftime next door where the owner will pull a gun on you if there's any type of disagreement with the staff.

Halftime changed owners quite a while ago, and if you read the findings it's pretty clear it had nothing to do with a disagreement with the staff. That was an outside dispute where someone entered and began behaving in an aggressive, threatening, and violent manner. The owner should not have had the gun (which was licensed) in his bar, or even in DC.
