It looks like we're not getting a Two Boots on H Street after all. The owners told a
Washington Business Journal reporter they have too much on their plates right now, but plan to look at an H Street location in the future.
A group of residents in Carver-Langston wants to expand their neighborhood beautification efforts, and they need neighbors to pitch in to make it happen. They sent along the flyer above for their first event. It's a community clean up on Saturday, March 11, from 9:35 a.m. to 1:35 p.m. Volunteers should meet at the entrance to the alley across from 2056 H St. The organizers will provide the gloves, trashbags, and tools. It sounds like a great excuse to hang out with neighbors while improving your surroundings. Look for the group to host plantings and other projects along those lines in the future. Here's a map showing the focus area for the first clean up.
Those of you planning for a long weekend will be glad to learn that
Union Market (1309 Fifth St.) will be open for your shopping needs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Presidents' Day. Be to check with individual vendors, because some may be closed or have modified holiday hours.
