We've got two new places opening on H Street this weekend. Friday brings us Sospeso (1344 H St.), a Mediterranean inspired restaurant that will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On Saturday stop by Turning Natural (1380 H St.) starting at 10:30 a.m. to try out one of their juices or smoothies, or grab a bite to eat. They close at 6 p.m.

Please note that several local spots will be closed today as the owners and staff participate in the national Day Without Immigrants to protest the immigration policies of President Trump. Washingtonian has a long list of places, so check before you head out for a meal.

Here's what a few of our local businesses had to say about the protest. Pow Pow (1253 H St.) explained "We spoke with our employees and asked them to choose, they said close," and the account for Shawafel (1322 H St.) tweeted that the restaurant "will be closed on February 16 in solidarity with a day without immigrants I am Lebanese, I am an immigrant, I am an American." Dangerously Delicious Pies (1339 H St.) indicated that they will remain open, but that the shops "support the pie posse #immigrantstrike & all immigrants taking a stand," and will donate a percentage of their sales to D.C.  based CARECEN Latino Resource and Justice Center.

Do you know someone interested in a career in the arts? Registration is now open for the Atlas Performing Arts Center's (1333 H St.) Stagecraft Training & Apprenticeship Program.

Went to sospeso - didn't like it. They don't seem to know what they're doing and the portions are laughable. I give it 3 months.
