There was a stabbing a little after 4:30 Monday afternoon near the intersection of 20th and Benning Road NE. The alert included a lookout for a black male wearing a white shirt and gray pants. The alert gave event # I20170391720. I don't have any information on the status of the victim.

Small request: can we please refrain from posting non-specific lookout descriptions. "A black male wearing a white shirt and gray pants" describes probably 40% of the people I saw on Benning Road this weekend. I know the intention is for us all to be informed and to stay vigilant — so I'm absolutely not accusing anyone of anything — but, I've learned from years in local news that these blanket descriptions that could describe anyone actually do more harm than good.
If you told me the crime and location I would have described the likely suspect even before reading the description.
9:58,
I'm just saying that's the exact description given in the lookout. But yes, it's incredibly vague and generic. I think the lookout descriptions are meant primarily for the police who may be in the area soon after the crime. I am certainly not suggesting that people try to keep an eye out for black men dressed in white shirts and gray pants. I mean, that would be absurd, no? I agree that such a description could fit a lot of people. If anyone has been reading any of the lookouts from these Alerts DC emails and texts that way, please stop. It's stupid and counter-productive.
In looking at the original post again I see that I typed "includes" when I meant to type "included." I'll fix that now.
