Nomad has put up a new covering on their patio, as well as shaded off the side closest to the dumpsters since I took this photo in 2015

Nomad Hookah Bar Seeks to Extend Patio Hours

Nomad Hookah Bar
(1200 H Street NE) has put in an application with the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) for a substantial change to their license. Nomad is asking to expand the hours of service/consumption on their patio. Currently, their license dictates that the patio close at 11 pm on weeknights and 12 am Fridays and Saturdays. Nomad would like to extend those weekend patio hours to allow patrons to use the outdoor space until 2 am Fridays and Saturdays. The change would not affect Nomad's overall operating hours, which allow them to host customers inside the establishment until 12 am on weeknights and 3 am on Fridays and Saturdays. I predict some pushback from neighbors on this one.

ABRA Offers Free Community Training

Would you like to learn more about the District's alcohol laws and how they apply to license holders? If so, you should definitely consider registering for ABRA's free community training session Tuesday, October 26th 6:30-8:30 pm. The training will cover such topics as the liquor laws generally, the protest and hearing process, settlement agreements (SAs, previously known as voluntary agreements or VAs), and ABRA resources.

The session does require you to sign up ahead of time, so contact ABRA Community Resource Officer Sarah Fashbaugh by Friday, Oct. 20 to register by emailing (Sarah.Fashbaugh[at]dc.gov) or calling (202) 397-3971. All trainings are free of charge and located at ABRA's office at 2000 14th St., NW, Suite 400 South, 4th Floor.

The problem with the patio at Nomad is you catch all the fried fish smell from Horace & Dickie's, which is just next door. It's a little tough to deal with.
