You've probably already heard that Solid State Books is headed our way. The new shop will open in the Apollo building at 600 H Street NE. They will offer a diverse selection of fiction and non-fiction for readers of all ages. The store will host events such as "author readings and signings, children's story hours, book groups, local interest panels, [and] political conversations." Many neighbors have been wishing for a bookstore for years, and we haven't had a permanent (the Carpe Librum pop-up in NoMa was great, but temporary) bookstore on H Street NE since the relatively short-lived Reader's Lounge & Quieto Café (421 H Street NE) closed its doors more than a decade ago.
According to an article in the Washington Post, the store will occupy 4,300 square feet and include a café area where you can linger over a pastry and a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. We can look forward to a fall opening.

Is that bike shop not going in there anymore?
4:57,
The Daily Rider is still going in there too, as is V Street. It's a big building.
